Whose side are they on?
Last Thursday was another punch in the gut for the education profession after 21 Republicans voted to undermine a reliable retirement plan for Michigan teachers and support staff.
The final version of the bill was publicly released around midnight on Tuesday. In those two days alone, Senate offices received thousands of phone calls, and 30,000 Michiganders signed a petition to stand with public schools.
Sen. Pavlov (R-St. Clair) drafted this bad bill to give for-profit schools an advantage over traditional public schools. You’re going to want to watch this heated exchange between Sen. Hertel (D-East Lansing) and Sen. Pavlov:
For decades, politicians have sold their values to the highest bidder while pushing our public education toward a cliff.
Donate $21 to help us replace each of the 21 Republicans who voted for this bill, and elect candidates in 2018 who support public education.
